Prema Yogi

Prema Yogi
7 years ago Prema (pronounced praim) found a copy of BKS Iyengar’s Light on Yoga on his mother’s bookshelf and began practicing the asanas he found inside.
Following the inspiration he found in this book he journeyed to Pune, India, to Iyengar’s ashram, not realising that there is lengthy waiting list to be admitted.
After sitting outside for three days he was finally allowed to enter and practice in the ashram.
Returning to Australia Prema studied with Kate Pell and attained a recognised Australian Yoga Teacher certification.
For the past three years in addition to his asana practice he has been deepening his practice and realisation of an integral yoga lifestyle: studying the philosophy and psychology of yoga from Bhagavad-gita and other scriptures, practising meditation, and studying permaculture design.
Prema claims that he is a living example of what is possible in relative short periods of time if you dedicate yourself to your yoga practice. Others are quietly sure that he got a head-start in a previous incarnation…
He is also a great cook, and is responsible for some wonderful dishes on the Atma table and in the Atma Cookbook.
Param Satya

Param Satya
Param Satya has been practising yoga for over 20 years, teaching yoga asanas for 12, and has developed a deep and gentle wisdom in her practice.
Originally from Washington, DC, she spent three years studying Iyengar’s method of asana practice in New Zealand before coming to Australia via South America.
In addition to her knowledge and dedication to asana practice Param has undertaken an in-depth study of Eastern wisdom traditions, in India and Taiwan, and integrated them with her scientific background.
Sitapati

Sitapati
Totally addicted to hot yoga, especially Bikram, and having studied with Brisbane’s Kate Pell, Sitapati teaches the odd class at Atma when Prem and Param Satya are busy cooking.
